NSS

There is an NSS Unit in the college to involve and encourage the students in social work The NSS Unit makes them acquainted with social problems and social responsibilities. It also makes the student socially compatible. It helps them very much to love and respect the people of the locality. It also teaches them how to work together and solve any sort of problems with dignity.

Objectives of NSS:

The broad objectives of NSS are  -

• To understand the community in which they work
• To understand themselves in relation to theiir community
• To identify the needs and problems of the communityand involve them in problem solving process
• To develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
• To gain skills in mobilising commuunity partiicipation
• To acquire leadershiip qulities and democratic attiitude
• To develop capacity to meet emergencies annd natuural disasters
• To practice national integration and social harmony

The Motto:

The motto or watchward of the NSS is : ‘NOT ME BUT YOU’. This reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of the other persons point of view and also to show consideration for fellow humanbeings. It underlines that the welfare of an individual iis ultimately dependent on the whole. Therefore, it should be the aim of the NSS to demonstrate thiis mootto inn its day-to-day programme.

Some of the NSS programmes organized by the NSS Unit of the college are depicted below:

• Sweeping and cleaning of public places, like bus stand, railway station, college campus, Primary Health Centre, etc.
• Distribution of fruits and snacks among the patients in Karandighi Hospital.
• Blood donation camp.
• Mother and child health check up camp.
• Organized literacy campaigning, drawing competition, recitation, sports, etc. in the local village.
